- WiFi codes, with the password in plain text
- Links, with a safety check before you open them
- Contact cards, phone numbers, SMS, email, maps, events
- Barcodes (EAN, UPC, Code 128), Data Matrix and Aztec
Scanned on your device. Images, PDFs and videos are never uploaded.
One scanner for every way a QR code reaches you: a photo, a screenshot, a PDF, a video, a router sticker or a live camera. It splits WiFi codes into network name and password, checks links before you open them, and never uploads anything.

Blank WiFi QR fields explained: WIFI:S:;T:;P:;; and WIFI:T:WPA;S:;P:;;
If your scan shows WIFI:S:;T:;P:;; or WIFI:T:WPA;S:;P:;;, the code is an empty WiFi template. S is the network name, T the security type and P the password, and all of them are blank. In the second string only the security type was set.
Nothing is hidden or encrypted in it. The person who made the code exported it before typing the network details, or a form sent empty values to the generator. Phones show “invalid” or do nothing. There is no password to recover, so ask the owner, check the router sticker, or make a new code with the details filled in. Tap the two samples in the Paste QR text tab above to see this explained on screen.
See WiFi password from QR on Samsung
The Samsung camera joins the network but never shows the password. To read it, take a screenshot or a photo of the code and drop it into the scanner above. The password appears in plain text with a Copy button.
For a network your Samsung is already on, open Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi, tap the gear next to the network, and tap QR code at the bottom. Screenshot that code and scan the screenshot here.
See WiFi password from QR on iPhone
The iPhone Camera offers “Join network” and keeps the password hidden. Save a photo or screenshot of the code, open this page in Safari, choose the Image or screenshot tab and pick it from Photos. The network name and password are shown in full.
For networks the iPhone already knows, iOS 16 and later shows the password directly: Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the i next to the network, then tap Password and confirm with Face ID.
Xiaomi / Redmi WiFi QR password
On Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO phones, open Settings > Wi-Fi and tap the network you are connected to. The phone shows a QR code to share it. Take a screenshot and paste or upload it here to read the password as text, then copy it into a laptop or another phone.
Pixel / Android 13+ share WiFi QR and read the password
On Pixel and most phones running Android 10 or later, go to Settings > Network & internet > Internet, tap the gear next to your network and tap Share. After you unlock, Android shows a QR code with the password written underneath it. If your phone only shows the code, screenshot it and scan it here.
WiFi QR code decoder for screenshots on PC (paste or drop)
You do not need to save the screenshot. Capture the code with Win+Shift+S on Windows or Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+4 on a Mac, come back to this page and press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V). The scanner reads it straight from the clipboard. Saved files can be dragged onto the box above.
Router sticker WiFi QR: read the password
Photograph the sticker straight on, with the code filling about a third of the frame. Avoid the flash, which causes glare on shiny labels. If the photo comes out blurry, step back 20 to 30 cm rather than closer: phone cameras cannot focus on anything nearer than about 10 cm. Then upload the photo here. Many routers also print the key as text next to the code, which is a good cross-check.
WPA3 / SAE WiFi QR format (T:SAE)
A WPA3 network is written as WIFI:T:SAE;S:NetworkName;P:password;;. SAE is the WPA3 handshake, and the scanner labels it “WPA3 (SAE)”. Android 10 and later joins these codes. If an older phone refuses one and your router runs in WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode, a code with T:WPA usually works for everyone.
Hidden network WiFi QR (H:true) explained
H:true tells the phone that the network does not broadcast its name, so it should search for it actively. Without it, a phone may not find a hidden network at all. Some phones ignore the flag. If yours will not connect, add the network by hand using the name and password the scanner shows.
WiFi QR with special characters (; , : backslash) fixer tool
In the WiFi format the characters ; , : \ and " must be escaped with a backslash. A password like latte;2026 has to be written latte\;2026, or the code cuts it off at the semicolon and phones fail to join.
Paste the text into the Paste QR text tab. The scanner shows how a phone reads the name and password, and if the text is not standard it gives you a corrected version to copy. The TrackFlyer QR generator escapes these characters for you.
Hotel / Airbnb WiFi QR: get the password to use on a laptop
Laptops usually cannot scan the code on the room card. Take a photo of the card with your phone, open this page on the phone or the laptop, and upload the photo. Copy the password and type it into the laptop’s WiFi prompt. It also works for codes printed on a TV welcome screen or a fridge magnet.
Show saved WiFi password on Windows 11 (then make a QR)
Open Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks, choose the network and select View Wi-Fi security key. You can also open Terminal and run netsh wlan show profile name="NetworkName" key=clear. The password is on the line “Key Content”. Put it into the WiFi tab of the QR generator to make a code guests can scan.
Show saved WiFi password on Mac
On macOS Ventura and later, open System Settings > Wi-Fi, click the … button next to the network (or Advanced for known networks) and choose Copy Password. On older versions, open Keychain Access, search for the network name, open it and tick Show password.
Enterprise WiFi QR (WPA2-EAP) explained
Office and campus networks often use enterprise login with a username instead of one shared password. Their codes look like WIFI:T:WPA2-EAP;S:Office;E:PEAP;PH2:MSCHAPV2;I:username;P:password;;. E is the EAP method, PH2 the inner method and I the identity. The scanner lists every field. Many phones cannot join enterprise networks from a code and need a profile from your IT team, but the fields tell you what to type by hand.
WiFi QR not showing password (Android hides it): workaround
Google Lens and most Android cameras join the network silently and never display the password. The workaround is to scan the same code with a reader that shows the raw contents: take a screenshot or photo and upload it above. On your own phone, the Share screen described in the Pixel section shows the password under the code.
ZXing WiFi decoder alternative
ZXing is the open source decoder behind many scanner apps, and its online demo shows the raw text of a code. This scanner uses ZXing as its second decoder, but it also splits a WiFi code into name, password and security, flags blank fields and broken escaping, and runs entirely in your browser, so the image of your WiFi details is never sent to a server.
Bulk WiFi QR for hotel rooms from Excel
For many rooms or units, keep one sheet with a column each for the network name, password and security, then generate the codes in one batch with a QR code generator from an Excel list. Before printing, put all the images into the Many images to CSV tab above. You get a spreadsheet of what every code really contains, so a typo in room 214 is caught before it reaches a guest.
WiFi QR for guest network: safe setup
A WiFi code contains the password in plain text, so anyone who photographs it has your password for good. Put it on a separate guest network, never the one your card reader, cameras or office computers use. Turn on client isolation if your router has it. When you change the guest password, reprint the code, because the printed one still holds the old password.
Print a WiFi QR sign (template sizes)
A code needs to be about one tenth as wide as the distance it is scanned from. A table tent read at arm’s length works at 1.2 to 1.5 inches. A sign on a wall or door read from 3 feet needs about 4 inches. Print the network name and password as text under the code for laptops. The TrackFlyer generator has a WiFi tab and print presets that give you the minimum size and an exact-size PDF.
Scan WiFi QR on laptop without camera (join a laptop to WiFi from a phone’s QR)
If your phone is already connected, open its WiFi share screen and screenshot the code (see the Samsung, Pixel and Xiaomi sections). Send the screenshot to the laptop by email or chat, open this page on the laptop and paste or drop it. Copy the password and join from the laptop’s WiFi menu.
WiFi QR code from Windows “share” screen
Newer versions of Windows 11 can show a QR code for the network the PC is connected to, under the network’s properties in Wi-Fi settings. A phone camera joins straight from it. To read the password instead, take a screenshot with Win+Shift+S and press Ctrl+V on this page.
WiFi password to QR on Chromebook
ChromeOS does not show saved WiFi passwords. If you know the password, type it into the WiFi tab of the QR generator and download the code. To read a code someone sent you, take a screenshot of the area with Ctrl+Shift+Show windows and paste it here.
Scan without a camera
Scan QR code on Mac without camera
Press Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+4 and drag around the code. Adding Ctrl copies the screenshot to the clipboard instead of the desktop. Then press Cmd+V on this page. For a code inside a file, drag the file onto the box above.
Scan QR on Windows 11 without camera (Snipping Tool, Lens)
Press Win+Shift+S, select the code, and the Snipping Tool copies it to the clipboard. Press Ctrl+V on this page and the result appears. In Chrome or Edge you can also right-click a code on a web page and search the image with Google Lens or Bing visual search, but those send the image to a server. This page does not.
Scan QR code from an image on iPhone
Open this page in Safari, choose Image or screenshot and pick the picture from Photos. It works for photos, screenshots and images saved from messages. The Google app’s Lens button can also read a QR code from a photo, but it opens links directly without the safety check you get here.
Scan QR from image on Android (Gallery, Lens)
In Google Photos, open the picture and tap Lens. Samsung Gallery offers a similar scan button on recent models. For WiFi passwords, raw text or a link check, upload the same image to this page instead: Lens joins networks and opens links without showing you what is inside.
Scan QR code in Chrome (right click / Lens)
Right-click a QR code on any web page and choose Search image with Google Lens to see where it goes. To read it privately, right-click, choose Copy image, then press Ctrl+V on this page.
Scan QR code from email on PC
Right-click the code in the email and copy the image, or save the attachment, then paste or drop it here. Be careful with codes in unexpected emails: QR phishing hides fake login pages behind codes because mail filters cannot read them. The scanner shows the real domain and warns about look-alike addresses, short links and brand names on the wrong site before you open anything.
Read QR code from PDF file (tool)
Choose the PDF tab and select the file. Every page is rendered and checked, up to 60 pages, and each code is listed with its page number. It works on tickets, bills, bank statements, restaurant menus and boarding passes. Password protected PDFs cannot be opened here: open them yourself and screenshot the code.
Read QR code from video
Choose the Video tab and select a screen recording or clip. The scanner steps through the video and lists every different code it finds with the time it appears. MP4 and WebM work in every modern browser. If a code flashes by too fast, pause the video on the sharpest frame and screenshot it.
Scan QR on a TV screen with the same phone (screenshot method)
A code on a TV is meant for your phone camera, so point the camera at it, or use the Camera tab here. Glare and distance are the usual problems: dim the room lights and stand 1 to 2 metres back. If the code is on the screen of the phone you would scan with, screenshot it and use the next method.
Scan QR code on the same phone it is displayed on
A phone cannot point its camera at its own screen. Take a screenshot, open this page on the same phone, choose Image or screenshot and select the screenshot. The result appears in a second, with a Copy button and the link check.
Scan QR in WhatsApp image
WhatsApp’s own camera only reads WhatsApp codes. For a QR code someone sent you as a picture, open the image, save it to your phone (or screenshot it), then upload it here. On WhatsApp Desktop or Web, right-click the image, copy it and press Ctrl+V on this page.
Bulk scan QR images to Excel / CSV
Choose Many images to CSV and select up to 300 images at once. Each file is read in turn and listed with the type and full contents. Download CSV gives you a file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets with columns for file name, type, format and content. Copy for Excel lets you paste the table straight into a sheet. It is the quickest way to check a print batch, an inventory of labels or a folder of event tickets.
