Evening wedding invitations

For guests who join you for the evening reception: the time to arrive, the venue, the gift list and an RSVP. A separate page from your day guests, so nobody turns up at the ceremony by mistake.

What to put on an evening wedding invitation

  • Your names and that it is the evening reception
  • The time to arrive, often 7pm or 7.30pm, and when it finishes
  • The venue with a map, parking and taxi numbers
  • Whether there will be food, like an evening buffet or bacon baps
  • Your gift list, or a kind note if you would rather not have gifts
  • A reply-by date

Wording you can copy

Sophie and James would love you to join them for their evening reception on Saturday 12 June from 7.30pm at Willow Barn. Please reply by 1 May.

We are keeping the ceremony small, but we want everyone at the party. Join us from 7.30pm for drinks, the first dance and dancing until midnight.

Together with their families, Sophie and James invite you to celebrate with them in the evening.

What to ask your guests

Evening guests need fewer questions than day guests: The reply form always asks for each guest's name, yes, maybe or no, how many are coming and which parts of the day they will join. Add any of these as your own questions, as a choice or a short answer, and you get a count for each choice:

  • How many in your party
  • Any dietary needs for the evening food
  • A song for the DJ

When to send it

Send evening invitations at the same time as the day invitations, usually two to three months before, so evening guests do not feel like an afterthought.

Paper invitations with a QR code

Print the code on the evening card. Guests scan to reply, and you can change the timings later without reprinting. How RSVP QR codes work.

Make your evening invitation free

One link with the details, a map, calendar buttons and RSVP that adds up the replies for you. Print the QR code on paper invitations too. No ads, no fee.

Questions

Should day and evening guests have different pages?

Yes. Make one page for each, so evening guests only see the evening times and their own RSVP.

Can the day guests see the evening page?

They can if you send them the link. It is often worth it, since they will be there too.

Is it free?

Yes, the page, RSVP, QR code and guest list are free.
